Preparing for Confirmation focuses on three chapters in Faith First Grade 6. These chapters present concepts that are an essential part of a sound catechesis for sacrament preparation for Confirmation. There are suggestions to be used as part of the long-range preparation for the celebration of Confirmation, as well as to be taught immediately prior to the celebration of the sacrament.
A Confirmation retreat program is also included. The booklet consists of two, two-page spreads for presenting each of the chapters. You will find in each lesson, a brief explanation that places the chapter in the context of preparation for Confirmation, containing a brief background essay and a list of helpful resources that can be used to enrich the teaching of the lesson.
Also included in the lesson plan is a step-by-step process for teaching the lesson. This lesson plan contains materials not included in the Faith First Grade 6 Catechist Guide and focuses the presentation of the lesson as part of the sacrament preparation process. The reproducible handouts contain activities that will help the students apply and integrate the faith themes of the lesson into their daily living.
There are six lessons in the booklet Preparing for First Eucharist Using Faith First Grade 3 that are designed to be used in conjunction with the Faith Firs t Grade 3 teacher and catechist guide. The lessons in Preparing for First Eucharist and Preparing for First Reconciliation focus on the essential concepts that are part of a sound catechesis for sacrament preparation.
Using these lessons with your children can make the immediate preparation a truly grace-filled time. The two-page lesson plans that are a part of Preparing for First Eucharist and Preparing for First Reconciliation include additional resources and practical suggestions along with a step-by-step teaching plan.
There are also parent letters that encourage parental involvement in sacrament preparation. Preparing for Confirmation will assist you in using Faith First Junior High Liturgy and Morality to prepare students for celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation. It is suggested to use Chapters 3, 5, and 7 as part of the preparation for the celebration of Confirmation.
Chapter 11 can be used as part of this preparation, or it may be presented after the celebration of Confirmation to help the students discover the life-long decision that each of us makes to live out our baptismal promises.
